Panther 2007 Winter Series Round 4 - 10 Feb 2008
|
| Unfortunately, the third
round of the Panther Winter series had to be cancelled
due to the wet weather, which now meant the series
would be best 4 from 5. The club had spent a lot of
money to improve drainage and taken the opportunity
to upgrade the toilet block
This was the fourth round of the 2007 Panther Winter
series - and would be a controlled tyre event for
the rallycross with a choice of three tyre compounds
- Dragons, Dragons 2 or Hedgehogs and control tyres
were optional for truggies with a choice of three
- Boa's, Gators or Meat Grinders.
There were 59 buggies and 12 truggies entered.
The weather had been dry in the few days before but
the morning started with a frozen track but still
dry conditions. The frozen track made for difficult
driving but the grip improved as the track thawed
out. Eventually, the sun came out and the track surface
dried quickly.
There were 3 rounds x 5min qualifiers, followed
by 25 min finals for everyone with the top two bumping
up. Darren Bloomfield won the rallycross
class and John Niall won the truggy class.

Special note to Garry Brace, who bumped up in 3
finals, at least that made up for his poor qualifying
position !

| Panther 2007 Winter Series Round 2- 23 Dec
2007
|
|
This was the second round of the 2007 Panther
Winter series - this would be a controlled tyre event
for the rallycross with a choice of three tyre compounds
- Dragons, Dragons 2 or Hedgehogs and control tyres were
optional for truggies with a choice of three - Boa's,
Gators or Meat Grinders.
There were 70 buggies and 24 truggies entered.
The weather was forecast to be slight drizzle but the
morning started with a damp, frozen track and foggy
conditions. The frozen track made for difficult driving
but the grip improved as the track thawed out.
Unfortunately, as the track thawed, the damp came
through causing the top inch of dirt to become very
heavy. The foggy conditions caused problems with not to
able to clearly see the far side of the track and a
decision was made to shorten the track layout for the
finals. A lot of drivers opted not to run the finals in
worsening conditions.
There were 3 rounds x 5min qualifiers, followed
by 10 min finals for everyone who elected to race.
Elliott Boots won the rallycross class and
Darren Bloomfield won the truggy
class.

A big thanks to Horizon Hobby UK who kindly
donated prizes for the top panther finisher in each
final
Please note that the current results are ONLY for
drivers who completed a final (I will have another look
at the heat results to try and add the heat results for
those drivers who elected not to run in the final,
apologiesl ! )

Dragons, Dragons 2 or Hedgehogs and control tyres were
optional for truggies with a choice of two - Boa's or
Meat Grinders.
There were 76 buggies and 22 truggies entered.
The weather was forecast to be wet but the morning
started with a dry but cold track, giving slippery
conditions. Grip improved as the track dried in the wind
but unfortunately the rain came for the later
finals.
There were 3 rounds x 5min qualifiers, followed
by 15 min finals for everyone, with the top two in each
final bumping up, unfortunately computer problems meant
the later finals had to be reduced to only 10 mins.

available for rallycross A, B and C finals and truggy A
final. I will send the corrupt file to bbk to see if he
can recover the missing data !

| 2007 summer series Round 2 - 15th July
2007
|
|
Round 2 of the summer series - the recent bad
weather and forecast rain meant that a few drivers opted
to come to Westmill instead of going to Dartford for the
SRS round. In addition, a festival in Guildford meant
the Maxbashing boys were not running so it was a warm
welcome to Dan, Nobby, Neil and the rest of the lads
from Maxbashing. All this meant there was 54 buggies and
2 heats of truggies with 23 entered.
The track was dry but slippery. Some rain during
the finals settled the dust but the grip was still low.
There were 3 rounds x 5min qualifiers, followed by 20
min finals for everyone, with the top two in each final
bumping up. John Niall won the rallycross class
and John Legg won the truggy class.

| First round of 2007 summer series and Interclub -
16th & 17th June 2007 |
|
The beginning of a new era - the first ever
meeting to be held at the Westmill Farm site, new home
of Herts Nitro Model Club. The format was a bash
day on the saturday and a race day on the sunday, sunday
being the first round of the 2007 club summer series and
also the first round of the 2007 East Anglia Interclub
with Norfolk buggy club.
Heavy showers during saturday and the likelihood
of more rain plus sunday being "Father's day" meant
numbers were less than anticipated with 45 rallycross
and 9 truggies.
Saturday was a chance to run your buggy / truck /
truggy to get track time or fine tune that setup ready
for sunday. A couple of brave souls opted to stay
saturday night and watched parts of the track turn into
a boating lake !!
The super aquavac's were in use sunday morning to
clear most of the water. The track was muddy to start
but had dried by the end of the first round of
qualifying. There were 4 rounds x 5min qualifiers,
followed by 20 min finals for everyone, with the top two
in each final bumping up. There was a bbq dinnertime,
with thanks to the Armstrong family. Sam Taylor
won the rallycross class and Steve Johnson won
the truggy class.
Rallycross D-final: M Longworth, M
White, P Saggers, S Burton C-final: K Talbot,
M White, D Felguer, M Jones B-final: M
Gregory, J Hall, C Smoothy, D Robinson A-final:
S Taylor, B Ward, J Niall, J
Armstrong
Truggies A-final: S
Johnson, M Gregory, J Geaves, K Armstrong
Provisional Interclub standings for best 11
drivers after the meeting were: Herts 1037 and
Norfolk 864 (these are subject to confirmation by Marty
and Rob).
Thanks to Marty and the guys for making
the long trip and look forward to the next meeting at
Norfolk on their revised track !!
